What are phishing scams?

Phishing scams are fake messages — usually emails or texts — that try to trick you into sharing personal or financial information by pretending to be a trusted company. They often look real, but their goal is to steal your money or access your accounts.

Scams like these are dangerous in any industry — but they’re especially risky when financial services are involved. That’s why 8fig is taking action to help keep your account safe.

General signs of phishing:

  • The message creates urgency (“Your account is compromised!”)
  • You’re asked to verify personal or financial info
  • The email address or link looks suspicious (e.g., support@8f1g.co)
  • It includes poor grammar, unexpected attachments, or unusual payment requests

We’ll ask a few quick questions to better understand your specific business needs. Then, we’ll build a funding plan tailored to your expenses.

How this applies to 8fig:

  • 8fig will never ask for your password, login credentials, or bank account details via email or SMS
  • All legitimate messages come from @8fig.co email addresses
  • We will never request payment through new or unusual methods without notifying you first.

2. Avoidance: How to stay protected

Knowing what to look for is the first step — the next is knowing what to do.

General safety practices:

  • Don’t click links in emails or texts you weren’t expecting
  • Never enter login or financial info into unknown websites
  • Use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication (2FA)
  • Regularly check your bank and 8fig account for unauthorized activity

Best practices for 8fig users:

  • Connect your bank account securely through the 8fig platform
  • Expect payments to be made via ACH (Automated Clearing House)
  • In rare cases, if ACH isn’t available, we may contact you via email with further instructions — always from an @8fig.co address, and only after notifying you beforehand
  • Do not follow any instructions from unknown email addresses or unverified sources claiming to be 8fig

This is particularly important when it comes to financial services, where even one mistake can result in lost funds or compromised accounts.

3. Notification: What to do if you suspect phishing

Quick action can make all the difference.

General actions to take:

  • Do not click links or download attachments
  • Take a screenshot or forward the message
  • Report it to the company being impersonated
  • If you entered information, change your passwords immediately and contact your bank

Reporting phishing to 8fig:

  • Forward the suspicious message or a screenshot to support@8fig.co
  • Then, delete the message
  • If you clicked a link or shared sensitive info, reach out to our team immediately at support@8fig.co

Paying via wire: What to expect and how to stay safe

At 8fig, payments are typically collected via ACH transfers through your securely connected bank account. This is the default and preferred method — it’s automated, safe, and requires no manual action.

In rare situations, such as during collections, if a client does not want to use ACH, they may request to pay via wire transfer. In those cases, 8fig provides wire instructions directly — but only after the client initiates the request.

How to verify wire instructions are from 8fig

  1. The email must come from an official 8fig address — always ending in 8fig.co.
  2. You must have initiated the request.
8fig will never send wire instructions unless you explicitly asked for them.
  3. Verify that the wire details exactly match what was provided in your dashboard or by your account manager.
  4. The payment should be directed only to a verified 8fig business account.
Never send funds to a personal or third-party account claiming to represent 8fig.

Be alert for:

  • Sudden or unexpected payment requests
  • Urgent or threatening tone (“You must pay today!”)
  • New or changed banking info without prior discussion
  • Messages from non-8fig domains or with poor formatting

Summary: 8fig payment do’s and don’ts

Do’s:

  • ✅ Do connect your bank securely through the 8fig platform.
  • ✅ Do expect payments through ACH unless you were informed otherwise.
  • ✅ Do reach out via support@8fig.co if you ever have a question.

Don’ts:

  • ❌ Don’t accept payment instructions from email addresses not ending in 8fig.co.
  • ❌ Don’t share your login credentials with anyone.
  • ❌ Don’t trust random payment links. Always verify inside your dashboard.

Stay safe and in control

Scammers are getting smarter — and when it comes to financial services, the stakes are even higher. Stay cautious, stay connected, and always verify before taking action. When in doubt, contact support@8fig.co.
